A Word From and About the "The Old Country Church" (TOCC)
7 Oct 2017

Memories are abound from my childhood about going to the TOCC, especially Sunday-School.  It was a small Anglican church in my village in Barbados built in the 1800’s. We would gather each Sunday glad to be there even as children (we had no-cell-phone or Xbox-distraction).  The days of the TOCC seem numbered as the world changes around us. How I would love to go back to those days, but such is not realistic. While the church still stands, as many have died, the presence of God still reigns as we enter.

This week we received so many financial-blessings as an answer to our outreach. We have truly been blest and we shall keep “Leaning-On-The-Everlasting-Arms”.

In November and December we have placed on the Altar of the Cathedral a membership drive as we hold on to God’s redeeming love as again we revisit TOCC where there was love, worship and fellowship. The   ACW shall continue to “Reach out to the world ….and beyond .

Join me for the words of this Song/Hymn TOCC

Oh I’d like to go back
To that old country church
To hear the songs of praise
How the people would sing
It would make the rafters ring
At that old, that old country church

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Shall we gather at the river
The beautiful, beautiful river
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Oh I’ll never forget
At that old country church
How the Glory of the Lord came down
And the children would smile
As they shouted down the aisle
Of that old, that old country church
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In the sweet bye and bye
We shall meet on that beautiful shore
In the sweet bye and bye
We shall meet on that beautiful shore
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Then on Sunday I’d see
All my friends dear to me
At that old country church
When it came time for prayer
Everybody would be there
At that old country church
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Leaning, oh yes I’m leaning
Safe and secure from all alarm
Leaning, oh yes I’m leaning
Leaning on the everlasting arm
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now the years have gone by
And so many have died
At that old country church
But they are on that other shore
Where they will sing forever more
As they did at that old country church

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I’m redeemed by Love Divine
Oh blessed, Christ is mine
Oh to Him I now resign
I’ve been redeemed
I’m redeemed by Love Divine
Oh I’m blessed
Christ is mine
Oh to Him I now resign
I’ve been redeemed
I’m redeemed by Love Divine
Oh I’m blessed
Christ is mine
