PRAYER
O GOD, who gatherest together the outcasts, and preservest them whom thou hast gathered: who didst bless the people when they went forth bearing branches to meet Jesus: vouchsafe likewise to bless the branches of palm and olive which thy faithful servants shall receive in honour of thy Name; granting that into whatsoever place they shall bear the same, the dwellers therein may obtain thy blessing: that being delivered from all adversity, they may ever be defended by thy mighty power, who are redeemed by Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Who liveth and reigneth with thee. Amen
PSALM OF PRAISE
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord. God is the Lord, And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. The GOSPEL St. John 20:1-10
THE first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, and the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
