PRAISE TEAM
PETITION And PRAYER
Lord, we come before You with a humble heart, not trusting in our own goodness, but in Your mercy alone. We pray for the hearts of those within our communities, our families, and all upon this earth. May Your Spirit stir within us to promote grace and understanding, rather than disdain and division. Help us to be a reflection of Christ’s love, drawing others not by our self-righteousness, but by our authentic humility and the mercy we extend to them.
Forgive us, as sinners, and help us live with integrity, speaking truth and walking blamelessly, so we may dwell in Your presence forever. Amen.
PSALM OF PRAISE
Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. GOSPEL St. Luke 18:9-14
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
